The title's the start of the song played at the beginning of the parade when all the infantry ppl, scdf and miscellenous pple double into the field and form the numbers '2006'.
From what I've seen, it'll look really nice. That is, to everyone else. Wad do we look forward to the most on 9th Aug? The hanging of the Singapore flag outside your home? Public holiday? Maybe....but seriously, what you guys long for...is the NDP!!!
And seriously, you don't watch the NDP for the lil clowns prancing around the field. You watch it for the parade itself, the parade commander, the suave guards of honour ^.^, the artillery firing, the parachuting! And lastly, the fireworks.
And I am very very sorry to all those who've marched in the NDP for the past 40 years. Sorry for enjoying so much while you were suffering, sorry for picking on all your lil teeny weeny errors. Sorry for sneering when someone faints, and sorry for not remembering any of your faces.
Marching in the NDP is a proud yet torturous event. Yes you feel the pride, but hell yeah you'll feel the pain as well....
Hmm... think I shan't spoil you guys with anymore details. Just know that it's painful and cheer louder for everyone in the field, even the NTUC and MOTOROLA uncles and aunties!
Been freaking busy the past weeks, busy with unarmed combat, and busy with parades. And busy planning how to chao keng the rest of my nsf days.
Let's see...I've got airborne, height confidence course, coastal swim and lastly, lrrp to clear off before I can ORD.
Airborne's gonna last ten days, my balls will shrink but hell I'll do it for that wing =(. HCC's another ball shrinker...hmmmm.....we'll see how it goes regarding this...coastal swim...if Kian Tiong can pass, so can everyone else.
Lastly, lrrp. You don't have to know what it stands for, juz know it's weeks of digging and sand and mud and mosquitoes ---->one word: shit.
And it's really weird how the system works. By completing lrrp, reservice will be 8 years, but if you don't complete lrrp, reservice will be 6years. Wth, you suffer so you can get two extra years of reservice. *claps*
And umm..during NDP, when the president gets out of his car to wave at everyone, please.....*clasps hands* please.....scream at him to get the hell out of the track and onto the saluting die so we can move on with the parade.
And if you're the driver who's gonna drive him 2 rounds around the stadium...pls...you know what to do....you're driving a class3, not a bicycle.
And lastly, please do not litter....somehow I've this gut feeling....the guards of honour......honour the cleanliness of the environment as well..
Seriously...you enjoy watching the parachutes? You think it's just the jumpers working? Well, there're people working behind the scenes....people who burn saturdays just to go there to set up water points for the jumpers, to assist em. Pilots who burn saturdays to fly the chinook. People who burn saturdays to PICK UP ROUNDS that the guards of honour fired. And all of them burnt countless weekends doing things that they will not be recognised for. So please, after the parade, take some time, and applaud their efforts.
